Cap dras: Intensive search operations conducted by the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) jointly with the United States Armed Forces resulted in the location and recovery, on May 12, 2026, of the second American service member reported missing since May 2, 2026, near a cliff at Cap DraS.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the body was spotted at approximately 4:40 PM and recovered at around 6:07 PM, 500 meters from the site of the incident, by personnel from the FAR, Civil Protection, and the US Armed Forces. The continuous efforts of the deployed assets, which included ground, maritime, and air teams, were crucial in the recovery, as stated by the General Staff of the FAR.
The initial findings of the investigation have confirmed the deceased as Enlisted Service Member Mariyah Symone Collington. The mortal remains were transferred to the morgue of the Moulay El Hassan Military Hospital in Guelmim, following established protocols.
A dignified transfer ceremony was held at the Guelmim military airport in tribute to the two deceased American service members. The remains were repatriated on the night of May 12, 2026, aboard a US military aircraft, as concluded in the statement.
