Training and Infrastructure Development as Pillars of Moroccan Sports Policies, Says Lower House Speaker

Rabat: Speaking at the opening of the International Sports Forum, organized by the House of Representatives under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Talbi Alami highlighted that ‘training and the development of sports infrastructure in terms of quality, availability and accessibility for citizens, mainly the youth, represent the pillars of the public policies implemented or currently being implemented to develop sports.’

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Alami noted that the Royal Message delivered by the Sovereign to the participants of the National Sports Conference in 2008 was the main driver of progress and the achievements realized in the development of sports in the Kingdom. The Royal Message represented a genuine national plan founded on a multidimensional vision for the future, including the adoption of a legislative framework adapted to the development of sports, training, mentoring, financing, and the development of sports facilities, he emphasized.

In line with the High Ro
yal Guidelines, the 2008-2020 National Sports Strategy was adopted and founded on ten major objectives, enshrining sports as a fundamental right and a tool for inclusion and social cohesion, while bolstering the sector’s governance and ensuring the development of infrastructure and national sporting practices, the Lower House Speaker said.

According to Talbi Alami, the success achieved by national sports during the recent years, mainly in athleticism, and more recently football and other disciplines such as golf and equestrian sports, was not the result of chance, but are, in fact, the result of a well-defined vision and multiple efforts in training, institutionalization, organization, and proactive incentives and policies.

Just as all aspects of progress and development in the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the comprehensive and inclusive revival of national sport is characterized by innovation and constitutes a unique model illustrating the national context’s ability to alig
n itself with international practices in terms of standards and compliance with current economic models, he noted.

In the same vein, Talbi Alami emphasized that Morocco is working to transform the costs associated with organizing continental and international sporting events into opportunities for the development of its cities and the improvement of public services, while making the modernization and renewal of strategic facilities real levers for the Kingdom’s attractiveness and influence.
