Union of Comoros Celebrates 5th Anniversary of Its Consulate in Laayoune


Laayoune: The Consulate General of the Union of the Comoros in Laayoune organized a ceremony to mark the 5th anniversary of its establishment, signifying the first diplomatic representation in the Moroccan Sahara’s capital. The event underscored the diplomatic, scientific, and economic ties between Morocco and the Union of the Comoros, which opened its Consulate General in December 2019 in the main city of Morocco’s southern provinces.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Consul General of the Union of the Comoros in Laayoune, Said Omar Said Hassane, reiterated his nation’s steadfast support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara. Said Hassane, who also serves as the dean of the consular corps in Laayoune, highlighted the increasing trend of opening diplomatic missions in Laayoune and Dakhla, emphasizing the Moroccan Sahara’s emergence as a strategic hub for cultural and international dialogue.

ch is based on proximity to ensure effective and practical bilateral cooperation. Celebrating this 5th anniversary, he expressed optimism about exploring new paths for future collaboration. He further noted that the southern provinces’ universities and vocational training centers host numerous students from the Union of the Comoros and other African nations, who are seen as future ambassadors of Morocco throughout the continent.
