New York:US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau articulated the United States’ dedication to the development of the Sahara region, emphasizing Morocco’s sovereignty over the territory.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Landau, after discussions with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, reiterated the strong bilateral ties between the US and Morocco. He highlighted a shared vision for the Sahara region’s development and enhanced cooperation.

Landau expressed the United States’ eagerness to collaborate with Morocco and other stakeholders to bring about a resolution to the longstanding regional conflict, which has persisted for over 50 years. He underscored that maintaining the current situation is untenable.

The meeting also reaffirmed the robust and enduring friendship between Rabat and Washington, with Landau noting that relations between the two nations are currently at an unprecedented high.
