Essaouira: HM the King’s Advisor and Founding President of Essaouira-Mogador Association, André Azoulay, emphasized Morocco’s unique strategic position within the Mediterranean region during a working session with the Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP) management team. The meeting, held in Essaouira at Bayt Dakira, gathered over thirty directors and managers from WINEP, one of the most influential think-tanks based in Washington, D.C. They discussed Morocco’s significant and strategic contributions to the Mediterranean region.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the session, chaired by Azoulay and attended by Essaouira Province’s Governor Adil El Maliki and Mayor Tarik Ottmani, focused on Morocco’s ‘pioneering relevance’ in its strategic decisions. Robert Satloff, WINEP’s Executive Director, recognized Morocco’s steadfast commitment to peace and security under King Mohammed VI’s leadership. He praised Morocco’s diplomatic initiatives, particularly in Arab and African matters, as demonstrations of its strategic influence.
Satloff further underscored Morocco’s cultural diversity as a model for global interfaith dialogue and peace promotion. He emphasized the deep historical ties between Morocco and the U.S., based on shared values and interests, and expressed optimism about strengthening this partnership for the mutual benefit of both nations.
