AU Recognizes Morocco’s Leadership in Favor of Democratic Governance in Africa

Rabat: The African Union (AU) Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bankol© Adeoye, presented an award to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, in recognition of Morocco’s exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to democratic governance, peace, and security in Africa.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this distinction was presented to Bourita at the opening of the 5th Training Cycle for African Election Observers of the AU. This flagship program, which has gained recognition across Africa, marks five years of strategic partnership between Morocco and the African Union’s Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security.

The recognition underscores the relevance of Morocco’s approach, which is based on a solidarity-driven, pragmatic, and results-oriented South-South cooperation. It also highlights the continental recognition of the Kingdom’s active role in promoting stability and good governance in Africa, aligning with the Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

For the past five years, Morocco has contributed to training election observers across Africa. As part of this initiative, nearly 400 individuals, including men, women, youth, and persons with disabilities from 53 African countries representing the continent’s five regions, have been trained in Rabat since 2022.
