Aviation: Pratt & Whitney Canada Opens New Production Facility in Nouaceur

Nouaceur: Pratt and Whitney Canada, a business unit of RTX and a global leader in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of aircraft engines, inaugurated its new production facility on Tuesday in the Midparc industrial zone in Nouaceur, for an investment of $76 million. The facility spans 12,000 m² and is set to generate approximately 200 new jobs by 2030, adding essential production capacity to meet the growing demand for high-quality, reliable engines. It will focus on producing detailed, static, and structural machined parts for Pratt and Whitney Canada aircraft engines, notably the PT6 engine family.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration Abdeltif Loudiyi. Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour spoke at the event, highlighting the Group’s track record, which includes tens of thousands of engines in service worldwide. Mezzour also emphasized Morocco’s strengths in supporting the ramp-up of the aerospace supply chain, noting the agility of the national industrial base and its capacity to meet deadlines, costs, and quality standards.

Minister Delegate for Investment, Convergence, and Public Policy Evaluation Karim Zidane pointed out that Pratt and Whitney’s establishment represents a significant step in upgrading Morocco’s aerospace industry. This project is part of the strong economic ties between Morocco, Canada, and the United States, resulting from close and coordinated support from the Moroccan government. The collaboration involved the Ministry of Investment, Convergence, and Public Policy Evaluation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), the Casablanca-Settat Regional Investment Center (CRI), and local authorities.

Maria Della Posta, president of Pratt and Whitney Canada, stated that the facility represents a strategic expansion of their global production network, demonstrating their commitment to building resilient global supply chains to increase production for their customers. She noted that RTX has been present in Morocco for over a decade and expressed delight in reinforcing their footprint through this major investment in local infrastructure and talent. Della Posta also highlighted Morocco’s growing role as a global aerospace hub, aligning with the Kingdom’s long-term vision, making it a strategic location for this new facility.

Since construction began in 2024, the Pratt and Whitney facility in Morocco has progressed rapidly, moving from construction to operational readiness, including staff recruitment, technical training, and the installation of state-of-the-art machining equipment. The facility was designed following lean manufacturing principles and incorporates advanced digital systems to promote quality, operational excellence, and efficiency.
