Rabat: Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, under the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, presented various sports equipment to the African Community Association Club on Saturday in the Old City of Al-Quds, as part of its program to support community organizations, on the eve of the launch of the 2026 summer season.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Agency noted that this initiative, funded by the Commune of Fez, is part of its ongoing efforts to support and develop community infrastructure in Al-Quds institutions and to provide safe spaces dedicated to youth and adolescents.
The support provided to the association focuses in particular on upgrading the multipurpose sports hall and increasing its capacity by at least 40% during the first year, thereby helping 200 to 250 young people and adolescents living in Harat Saadiya and surrounding neighborhoods of the Islamic Quarter to benefit from the club’s renovated facilities.
In this regard, president of the African Community Association Nasser Qaws stated that equipping the club with new sports equipment is “an important step toward strengthening the resilience of the children and youth of Al-Quds and providing them with a safe sports environment that helps protect them from social ills.”
Located in the immediate vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the association strives to engage as many children from the Old City as possible through sports activities, thereby helping to empower youth and steer children and young people away from negative behaviors, he added.
The Old City of Al-Quds, with its high population density, suffers from an acute shortage of open spaces and recreational infrastructure due to urban planning and geographical constraints. The club thus serves as an important sports and social hub, particularly following the closure of the Burj Al-Luqlaq Community Center.
Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency continues to implement its programs in several vital sectors in Al-Quds, with nearly $3.987 million in projects relating to youth, sports, and children during the period 2000-2025.
