Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency Organizes Iftar for 500 Orphaned Children in Al-Quds

Al-quds: The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency organized, on Monday in Al-Quds, a collective iftar for the benefit of 500 orphaned children from the Holy City and their families, as part of its social initiatives carried out during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this humanitarian initiative provided the children with moments of joy and togetherness in a family-like atmosphere, despite the difficult conditions facing the city. After breaking the fast, children attended several performances and recreational activities that brought a festive atmosphere to the evening, marked by joy and good spirits.

The evening was also marked by the distribution of Eid Al-Fitr clothing to the beneficiary children, as part of the Agency’s annual social assistance campaign organized on the same occasion. The organization of this iftar forms part of the Ramadan charity campaign resumed by the Agency in Al-Quds and its surroundings, despite the difficult security and economic conditions faced by residents, notably due to the repercussions of the war in the Middle East and the resulting tensions, which have had a direct impact on the daily lives of Al-Quds people.

In a friendly atmosphere, children shared the iftar meal with their families in a spirit of solidarity and social support, while the organizers ensured a diverse entertainment program to enhance the evening. On this occasion, Manah Allah Al-Sharif, a resident of Al-Quds, expressed her gratitude to the organizers of this annual Ramadan iftar, praising the role of the Agency in caring for children and addressing their psychological and social needs.

For his part, Ilias Abou Sonaina, a resident of Silwan in Al-Quds, thanked the Agency for organizing the iftar, stressing that such initiatives convey an important message of human solidarity in the face of the difficulties experienced by the Holy City.

The Agency’s Managing Director, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, stated that this initiative is part of the social and humanitarian programs implemented in the Holy City, aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and strengthening the resilience of the Al-Quds community in the face of growing challenges. In line with the guidelines of the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the body continues to implement projects and field initiatives that respond to the needs of the Al-Quds community in the social, health and economic sectors, he added, noting that support for orphans and disadvantaged families remains a priority in its programs.

During a field visit to Al-Quds last month, Cherkaoui launched a series of social, health and economic initiatives coinciding with the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH, as part of the Agency’s efforts to alleviate the economic hardships faced by Al-Quds families. Among these initiatives is the launch of the annual social assistance campaign from the villages of Nabi Samuel and Al-Judeira, northwest of Al-Quds, including the distribution of 5,000 food baskets containing 22 basic essential items to needy families in the Holy City and villages across the governorate.

The Agency has also provided the necessary supplies to social centers to prepare around 20,000 iftar meals per day during the holy month, in addition to distributing Eid clothing to orphans supported by its programs and organizing religious and cultural evenings as well as training programs. In the health sector, the Agency organized free medical days for Bedouin communities in the areas of Khan Al-Ahmar, Jahalin and Al-Muntar, as well as in several towns and villages around Al-Quds. These included laboratory tests conducted by a mobile laboratory and consultations in general medicine, pediatrics and ophthalmology.

On the economic front, the Agency launched a training program aimed at strengthening the skills of Al-Quds traders in fields related to import and export. It also organized a week-long training program on Moroccan handicrafts for 38 youths from Al-Quds, led by Moroccan artisans specializing in weaving, wood carving and copperware. The resumption of the Ramadan charity campaign in Al-Quds holds particular significance given the security, economic and social constraints faced by Palestinians in the Holy City, against the backdrop of the repercussions of the war in the Middle East and Israeli policies imposed on Al-Quds and its inhabitants.
