CHAN 2024: Morocco Defeats Angola 2-0


Tanzania: The Atlas Lions emerged victorious in their opening match of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) by defeating Angola 2-0. The match saw Morocco taking the lead with a goal from Imad Riahi in the 29th minute. The game’s outcome was further sealed when Angola’s Quinito scored an own goal in the 81st minute, ensuring Morocco’s triumph.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this victory places Morocco at the top of their group with 3 points. They are followed by Kenya, which secured a 1-0 win over DR Congo on the same day. The match was held at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, where Austin Odhiambo scored for Kenya in the 45+2 minute mark.

The 8th edition of the CHAN features nineteen national teams, all composed of players from African national leagues. This year marks a significant milestone as it is the first time the tournament is jointly organized by three East African nations: Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
