Rabat: In a press statement following her meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, Tetteh expressed her “deep appreciation” to the Kingdom for its efforts to advance the political process in Libya, as well as for its consistent support to UNSMIL.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Morocco is a “very important partner” in building agreement and consensus among Libyan interlocutors, as noted by Tetteh. She emphasized that the Kingdom has contributed to overcoming “crucial” stages in this process.
Tetteh also highlighted the “particularly sensitive phase” Libya is experiencing, marked by tensions in Tripoli in recent months and municipal elections facing multiple challenges. She noted that the UN is actively working with Libyan actors to establish a new political roadmap.
She reaffirmed UNSMIL’s determination to continue working alongside Libyans, with the support of Morocco and the international community, to put an end to the current situation.
