Rabat: A certificate award ceremony was held on Wednesday at the King Fahd School of Translation, marking the conclusion of a specialized training program in translation and interpretation for senior officials from the Union of the Comoros.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the program, which ran from April 6 to April 30, 2026, was organized as part of a collaborative effort between Abdelmalek EssaSdi University, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates.
Designed to strengthen participants’ linguistic and communication skills, the training covered a wide range of areas, including general and specialized translation, computer-assisted translation (CAT), and interpretation. The curriculum combined both theoretical instruction and practical application, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience tailored to the needs of the participants.
With decades of experience in training professional translators, the King Fahd School of Translation oversaw the implementation and academic supervision of the program. The institution adapted its teaching approach to meet the specific requirements of the Comorian officials, ensuring both relevance and quality.
Speaking to the press, the president of Abdelmalek EssaSdi University highlighted that the initiative provided a valuable opportunity for senior Comorian executives to benefit from high-level training in translation and interpretation.
He noted that the program aligns with Morocco’s commitment to South-South cooperation, a priority consistently emphasized by HM King Mohammed VI, as well as with the Kingdom’s broader strategy of scientific and academic diplomacy.
For his part, Mohamed Kharchich, director of the King Fahd School of Translation, underscored the institution’s dedication to the program’s success. He praised the efforts of both administrative and teaching staff, noting that instructors worked diligently to deliver a rigorous academic offering while maintaining close interaction with participants and sharing their expertise in translation and communication.
Meanwhile, Ahamada Ibrahim Mmadi, head of the Comorian delegation, expressed satisfaction with the quality of the training, stating that participants greatly benefited from the courses provided. He also recalled the strong and longstanding ties between Morocco and the Union of the Comoros, which date back to 1976. According to Mmadi, the knowledge gained during the program will enable participants to continue developing their skills and apply them effectively in their professional roles back home.
This initiative reflects Morocco’s ongoing commitment to strengthening cooperation with African nations, emphasizing education, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building as key drivers of sustainable development across the continent.
