El Salvador’s First Lady Explores Collaborative Research on Deafness at Rabat Center


Rabat: El Salvador’s First Lady, Gabriela Rodr­guez de Bukele, recently visited the Mohammed VI Research and Innovation Center in Rabat. Her visit is part of a collaborative partnership between the Lalla Asmaa Foundation and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, focusing on scientific research related to deafness.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this initiative aims to develop a medium- and long-term research project on hearing disorders, emphasizing comprehensive and early diagnosis based on genetic characteristics. The Mohammed VI Research and Innovation Center is equipped with advanced laboratories in cellular biology and immunology, molecular biology and genomics, next-generation sequencing, and microbiology and infectiology. These facilities have facilitated groundbreaking research, leading to the identification of genetic causes of hearing disorders.



During her visit, Rodr­guez de Bukele received detailed explanations of the Center’s activities and its mission to pioneer applied medical research. The Center aims to bridge fundamental research discoveries with the development of practical applications to enhance human health, focusing on innovative and sustainable solutions for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.



The Mohammed VI Research and Innovation Center seeks to establish itself as a Center of Excellence, merging cutting-edge research and innovation to create a lasting impact. It relies on an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to achieve its mission, aspiring to contribute significantly to improving patient healthcare.
