France and Morocco Strengthen Migration Cooperation

Paris: France on Friday praised its “extremely rich” and “well-structured” cooperation with Morocco in the field of migration. “Between Morocco and France, we have an extremely rich and structured migration relationship,” said Fr©d©ric Joram, Director of Immigration at the French Ministry of the Interior. His statement was made on the sidelines of the biannual seminar of Morocco’s Consuls General, organized by the Kingdom’s Embassy in Paris in the presence of senior officials from the Interior and Foreign Affairs ministries of both countries.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Joram addressed Morocco’s 17 consuls, using the opportunity to highlight the importance of the relationship between Moroccan consular authorities in France and French administrative authorities, particularly the prefects. These officials play a crucial role in the bilateral migration relationship. Discussions focused on various aspects of the migration relationship, including legal migration involving professionals and students. The number of Moroccan students in France, especially in leading higher education institutions, is increasing. Additionally, the fight against irregular immigration was a significant topic, emphasizing the relationship between Consuls General and prefects.

The seminar, organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Paris, underscored the central role played by Morocco’s consulates in Franco-Moroccan cooperation on migration issues. It brought together Morocco’s 17 Consuls General serving across France, with the presence of Fouad Kadmiri, Director of Consular and Social Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Morocco’s Ambassador to France Samira Sital, and several senior French officials.
