Rabat: Gambian President Adama Barrow and Liberian President Joseph Boakai have been honored with the Grand Prix MEDays 2025 during the opening ceremony of the 17th MEDays Forum. This prestigious event, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, took place from November 26 to 29 and recognized the leadership of these nations alongside Somalia.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the award to President Barrow was in recognition of his vital role in ensuring regional stability and enhancing the strategic partnership between The Gambia and Morocco. The Gambia has been a strong supporter of the Moroccanness of the Sahara, notably by being among the first nations to establish a Consulate General in Dakhla.
President Boakai of Liberia was awarded for his leadership in fostering socio-economic development and his diplomatic endeavors. Liberia’s partnership with Morocco is underscored by the opening of its consulate in Dakhla, which signifies unwavering support for Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, received a special MEDays 2025 Prize on behalf of his country. Somalia’s award highlights its increasing role in promoting peace in East Africa and its supportive stance towards Morocco, demonstrated by its vote in favor of UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which endorses the autonomy initiative for resolving the Moroccan Sahara dispute.
The Amadeus Institute and the MEDays Forum Foundation, through these awards, emphasize their dedication to the principles of dialogue, cooperation, and sustainable development that the MEDays Forum represents.
