GCC Reaffirms Support for Moroccan Autonomy in Sahara


New York:The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have renewed their commitment to supporting the Moroccan autonomy initiative concerning the Sahara region, emphasizing their ongoing backing for the Moroccanity of the Sahara.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, during a meeting of the 4th Commission of the United Nations, Bahrain’s representative spoke on behalf of the GCC countries, applauding the adoption of Security Council resolution 2797. This resolution endorses the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a critical step towards achieving a realistic, viable, and lasting resolution to the regional dispute.



The GCC countries also reiterated their support for efforts led by the United Nations to secure a definitive solution to the conflict. This solution aims to respect the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco and its territorial integrity.
