HM the King’s Vision: Driving Force Behind Morocco’s Football Success

Rabat: The far-sighted vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI is the driving force behind sporting excellence and the phenomenal success of Moroccan football, said the International Business Development Director of the Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam, Mohammed Hamdi.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, HM King Mohammed VI has played a decisive role in promoting sport in general and developing football in particular, Hamdi affirmed in an interview, following the 35th Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco. “The visionary leadership of the Sovereign is the cornerstone of the spectacular revival of Moroccan football,” he said, adding that by positioning sport as a strategic pillar of national development, Morocco has succeeded, under the impetus of the Sovereign, in building a “sustainable, coherent, and future-oriented sports model.”

Today, Morocco rightfully ranks among the most respected football nations in the world, noted the expert in professional football management, commending in this regard the action of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation for its role in professionalization, structural strengthening, and the growing global standing of national football.

The International Director of Feyenoord also said he was proud to see Morocco organize the best edition in the entire history of the AFCON, noting that the 35th Africa Cup of Nations highlighted the Kingdom’s high level of professionalism and exceptional logistical capacity. “The quality of the sports infrastructure, the efficiency of logistical operations, and the warm hospitality extended to teams and supporters highlight the country’s strong organizational capacity,” he underlined, pointing out that “this achievement undoubtedly serves as a compelling preview of the 2030 FIFA World Cup,” which Morocco will co-host alongside Spain and Portugal.

“With this successful organization of the AFCON, Morocco has proven itself to be a reliable, visionary, and ambitious partner, ready to host a historic World Cup,” he said. Hamdi congratulated the Atlas Lions for their remarkable run in the tournament, noting that reaching the final after 22 years constitutes a ‘historic milestone’ for Morocco and deserves special recognition.

This achievement of Moroccan football, he explained, is not the result of coincidence, but of a consistent long-term strategy based on a clear vision in which technical quality, mental strength, and organizational maturity converge. Impressed by the ‘modern and holistic talent development model’ represented by the Mohammed VI Football Academy, Hamdi pointed out that this center of excellence ‘combines sporting performance, academic education, discipline, and human values.’

The Mohammed VI Academy trains players who are not only technically proficient, but also mentally and professionally prepared for the highest level, he said, adding that “this model exemplifies the Kingdom’s long-term vision: investing in youth, knowledge, and character as the foundation for sustainable sporting success.”
