Inmate ‘M.Z’ Presents Handwritten Note Announcing Suspension of Hunger Strike (Prison Administration)Palestinian youth struck by bullet shrapnel, dozens suffocate during confrontations in Hebron’s al-Arroub camp

Rabat – The administration of the Al Arjat 1 local prison has confirmed that on Friday morning, detainee “M.Z” presented a handwritten note announcing the suspension of his hunger strike, adding that since that day and until Monday, the prisoner concerned has been taking his meals regularly.

In a clarification in response to a statement by an “association claiming to be active in the defense of human rights” on the inmate’s state of health, the prison administration recalled that it had issued a press release on Friday February 16 stating that the prisoner had indeed ended his hunger strike.

Disregarding this press release, “on February 18, the aforementioned association published a statement in which it sought to mislead public opinion by implying that the detainee ‘M.Z’ was still on hunger strike, going so far as to urge him to end it to save his life!”, noted the same source.

The prison administration “denounces all attempts at disinformation by certain parties and individuals who have become accustomed
to exploiting this type of case to further their suspicious agendas, thereby losing all credibility with the public, who no longer believe their repeated and blatant lies, and who now find dubious their obstinacy in propagating false information and inventing facts that are the pure product of their imagination”, the statement pointed out.
