Link Up Africa Fosters Cooperation Between Morocco, EU, and Sub-Saharan Africa for Youth Entrepreneurship

Rabat: The Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), the Delegation of the European Union to Morocco, and the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation (Enabel) celebrated the completion of the Link up Africa project at an event in Rabat, marking a significant collaboration between Morocco, Europe, and Sub-Saharan African nations.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the initiative, spanning 38 months, aimed to bolster South-South and triangular cooperation, focusing on empowering young African entrepreneurs. Funded by the European Union and initiated by Morocco and the EU, the project targeted Sub-Saharan African partner countries. It was executed by AMCI and Enabel from September 2022 to October 2025, centering on academic and technical cooperation and developing economic opportunities for African students and graduates trained in Morocco.

The project benefited 317 executives from 42 African countries through capacity-building activities, with training sessions held in Morocco on strate
gic sectors such as climate change, food security, and renewable energies. Expertise missions were also conducted in Sub-Saharan African countries to promote entrepreneurship and knowledge-sharing.

Deputy Head of Delegation at the EU Delegation to Morocco, Daniele Dotto, emphasized the project’s impact, stating that it created lasting opportunities for African talents, highlighting the strength of triangular cooperation in achieving inclusive development.

The initiative introduced over 1,800 students from 35 African countries to entrepreneurship through workshops in Moroccan cities. It supported 141 project leaders with bootcamps and workshops, providing 4,400 hours of training. Eleven project leaders from seven African countries advanced to an intensive incubation phase.

Additionally, the project reinforced connections with the entrepreneurial ecosystem by mapping 266 actors in six African countries and developing pre-incubation and incubation tools, including an e-learning platform.
