Lower House Closes First Session of 2024-2025 Legislative Year with Focus on African Cooperation

Rabat: Morocco’s Lower House closed the first session of the 2024-2025 legislative year on Tuesday. In an address on the occasion, the Lower House Speaker, Rachid Talbi Alami, highlighted that the session aimed at further entrenching Morocco as an emerging power under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Speaker reminded that the Sovereign had emphasized the importance of mobilization and vigilance to strengthen the country’s position, promote the legitimacy of its cause, and counter the maneuvers of its foes. The session placed significant focus on building Morocco’s ties with Africa, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation with the continent’s parliaments.

The House of Representatives has hosted numerous parliamentary delegations, underscoring its commitment to African collaboration. The efforts were highlighted by hosting the meeting of the Presidents of Atlantic African Parliaments on the 6th of this month. This meeting was part of the parliamentary support for the Atlantic African States Process (PEAA), an initiative of His Majesty the King.

The discussions during this meeting led to the “Rabat Declaration,” where participating parliaments committed to supporting the creation of a relevant parliamentary network, further emphasizing Morocco’s dedication to fostering strong relationships with African nations.
