Rabat: British MP David Murrison has commended Moroccan law enforcement for their approach in handling public gatherings, highlighting their “tolerance and restraint” during last weekend’s events. Murrison’s remarks shed light on Morocco’s evolving landscape of public order and the broader socio-economic aspirations of its citizens.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Murrison emphasized the natural desire of populations, both in emerging countries and Europe, for improved living standards. He acknowledged that these aspirations occasionally manifest as public demonstrations. He pointed out that in Morocco, citizens have the freedom to demonstrate, and the authorities have shown commendable restraint in maintaining peace and order.
Murrison further praised Morocco for its advancements across various domains, noting that the Kingdom has emerged as a regional exemplar of peace, security, stability, and adherence to the rule of law. He highlighted the significant progress the country has achieved in economic, democratic, political, and social fields, reinforcing Morocco’s status as a model in the region.
