Moroccan Sahara: So Tom© and Prncipe Endorses Moroccan Sovereignty and Autonomy Plan

Rabat: The Republic of So Tom© and Prncipe reiterated on Tuesday its steadfast position in support of the Moroccanness of the Sahara and of the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty as the only solution to this regional dispute.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Communities of So Tom© and Prncipe, Ilza Maria dos Santos Amado Vaz, expressed her country’s firm and unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over the Sahara region. This declaration followed her meetings in Rabat with Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.

Amado Vaz emphasized her country’s full backing of the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco, describing it as the sole credible and realistic solution to the regional conflict. She also praised the historic adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which endorses Morocco’s autonomy plan within the framework of its sovereignty as a serious and sustainable basis for a political solution.

Furthermore, Amado Vaz acknowledged the significant socio-economic progress made in Morocco’s Southern Provinces through the New Development Model. This model is credited with promoting stability, security, and regional integration, aligning with So Tom© and Prncipe’s position and the growing international consensus supporting Morocco’s sovereignty and autonomy plan, a movement championed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
