Morocco’s Education Minister Engages in Strategic Talks with Guinean Counterpart

Rabat: Morocco’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation Azzeddine El Midaoui held a meeting in Rabat with Diaka Sidib©, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation of the Republic of Guinea and President of the Council of Ministers of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES).

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the meeting served as a platform to explore the enhancement of bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Guinea, alongside opportunities for developing multilateral collaboration within CAMES. This initiative aligns with Morocco’s objective of strengthening African academic and scientific partnerships through the Kingdom’s prospective accession to the Council.

The discussions, guided by the High Royal Guidelines promoting partnerships with African nations, focused on common interests, particularly enhancing collaboration between universities and institutions of higher education and scientific research. Key topics included advancing joint scientific research, sharing expertise, and supporting student mobility and the training of engineers and instructors.

El Midaoui and Sidib© underscored the strategic importance of CAMES as a framework for fostering multilateral cooperation and as a regional mechanism for achieving academic integration and improving higher education across Africa. They lauded the positive trends in cooperation, especially regarding the admission of African students to Morocco, highlighting the rise in Guinean student numbers, expected to reach 1,379 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Concluding the meeting, both ministers affirmed their dedication to elevating cooperation to new levels of excellence and efficiency through joint initiatives and operational programs. These efforts aim to fortify the partnership among African training and research institutions in higher education, scientific research, and innovation.
