Morocco Aims to Develop Integrated Industrial Model with African and Global Links

Rabat:Morocco has chosen to pursue an industrial strategy that is both deeply rooted in Africa and connected to global value chains, according to the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Benali made the announcement during the opening of the 3rd International Mining Congress (IMC Morocco 2026). She emphasized that this approach seeks to enhance responsible mining practices, improve traceability, facilitate access to sustainable financing, and support greater value creation across the continent.

She highlighted Africa’s exceptional geological potential and stressed the importance of enhancing the capacity to derive more benefit from its resources. Benali advocated for networking African resources, transformation capacity, energy, infrastructure, technology, abilities, and financing to create an integrated and sustainable industrial ecosystem connected to international markets.

Benali questioned whether Africa, as a collective, can secure a larger and more strategic share of the value chains associated with its resources.
