Rabat: Morocco and Belgium ‘welcomed the historic and excellent bilateral relations and their strategic importance,’ while reaffirming their willingness to pursue and strengthen the momentum of their partnership in all areas.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, a Joint Statement was issued at the close of Wednesday’s meeting in Rabat between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Belgian counterpart, Bernard Quintin. The two ministers expressed appreciation for the momentum in relations following the 3rd meeting of the High Joint Partnership Commission, which was held on April 15, 2024, in Rabat.
In the statement, both ministers praised the excellent ties of friendship between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Majesty King Philippe, highlighting the mutual respect between the Royal Families of the two countries and the warm relations between their peoples. They emphasized a shared desire to enhance political dialogue and promote economic partnerships in trade and investment, particularly focusing on energy transition and green energies.
Bourita and Quintin also committed to reinforcing cooperation in other priority areas identified in the roadmap established by the High Joint Partnership Commission. These areas include culture, youth, migration, and broad security cooperation. Belgium recognized the ambitious reforms led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, such as the reform of the Family Code and the initiative for advanced regionalization.
The strengthening of Morocco’s cooperation with Belgium aligns with Morocco’s Royal Vision to diversify partnerships, reaffirming its role as a strategic player for European countries.
