Morocco and France Advocate for Enhanced Mediterranean Transport Collaboration at GTMO 5+5


Rabat: Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, and France’s Ambassador and Interministerial Delegate for the Mediterranean, Nadia Hai, emphasized the necessity for bolstered cooperation in Mediterranean transport during discussions held in Rabat.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the talks took place on the sidelines of the 11th Ministerial Conference of the Western Mediterranean Transport Ministers Group (GTMO 5+5). Hai highlighted the significance of this event as a strategic platform aimed at reinforcing dialogue and collaborative efforts to address challenges related to ecological and energy transitions. She emphasized Morocco’s pivotal role in fostering closer ties among the Mediterranean’s coastal nations.



Hai also commended Morocco’s impending presidency of the GTMO 5+5 for the 2026-2028 period. She expressed confidence in Morocco’s capability to sustain and enhance the progress made under the Maltese presidency, particularly in areas such as rail, maritime, and air connectivity, as well as in the promotion of more sustainable transport solutions.



Kayouh, on his part, underscored the strong Moroccan-French relations within the transport and logistics sectors. He affirmed the commitment of both countries to advance their cooperation and expertise exchange, aiming to achieve sustainable and integrated mobility across the Mediterranean region.
