Rabat: At the conclusion of a recent meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Morocco and Guatemala celebrated the robust friendship and solidarity that define the bilateral relationship between their nations. They agreed on the importance of ongoing exchanges and assessing these relations to further strengthen them.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the ministers emphasized the principles of international law, highlighting respect for territorial integrity, state sovereignty, and adherence to treaty obligations. The dialogue also addressed regional and international issues concerning Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.

The ministers expressed a mutual commitment to enhancing the bilateral legal framework to support areas of shared interest. They highlighted the significance of the newly signed Morocco-Guatemala Cooperation Roadmap for 2025-2027 and a Memorandum of Understanding in academic and diplomatic cooperation between the Moroccan Institute for Training, Research, and Diplomatic Studies and the Diplomatic Academy of Guatemala.

Both ministers underscored the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing shared challenges such as trade, food security, sustainable development, climate change, education, health, and the fight against terrorism and transnational crime. These efforts aim to combat insecurity and corruption.

The discussion also covered the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on poverty eradication and climate change mitigation, while promoting sustainable land and water management.

On migration, the ministers praised efforts under frameworks like the Marrakech Pact, the Rabat Process, and the Los Angeles Declaration, reaffirming their dedication to facilitating safe and orderly migration.

Economically, both countries acknowledged the potential for launching projects aimed at decarbonizing their economies, particularly in renewable energy, presenting significant opportunities for investors.
