Rabat: Morocco and Jordan are actively engaging in discussions to strengthen their parliamentary cooperation, as part of an ongoing program aimed at enhancing legislative practices, particularly in the area of financial oversight. The initiative is supported by the Jordanian Parliament in collaboration with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Moroccan Parliament issued a press release highlighting the strong ties between the two nations, fostered by the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI and HM King Abdullah II. The statement also reiterated Morocco’s commitment to bolstering bilateral legislative cooperation. Moroccan official Sabbari emphasized the significance of deepening exchanges between parliamentary committees and strengthening the work of the Morocco-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Group. He further acknowledged Jordan’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and Rabat’s autonomy plan for the Moroccan Sahara dispute resolution.
In response, Al-Fuqaha noted that the visit serves as an opportunity for Jordan to learn from Morocco’s expertise in parliamentary financial oversight. He expressed Jordan’s interest in developing closer institutional relationships between committees and friendship groups within both parliaments.
The visit by the Jordanian delegation aims to expand collaboration and align parliamentary practices, reflecting the aspirations of both countries’ leaders and the interests of their citizens, the source added.
