Meknes: Morocco is establishing itself as a benchmark in the transformation of agri-food systems, with strong potential for value creation as part of South-South cooperation, said on Saturday in Meknes the representative of the FAO in Morocco, Alexandre Huynh. Speaking at the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), Huynh emphasized that Morocco is among the countries advancing with determination and concrete action in transforming their agri-food systems, to the point of becoming a reference for South-South cooperation.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Huynh highlighted the inherent complexity of transforming agri-food systems, stressing Morocco’s ability to maintain a long-term strategic vision, notably embodied in the ‘Generation Green’ strategy, regardless of changing circumstances. He also underscored the importance of multisectoral coordination, noting that without a shared organizational framework, efficiency is reduced, and that this coordination is precisely what Morocco is current
ly strengthening.
The 18th SIAM is being held in Meknes until April 28 under the theme “Sustainability of animal production and food sovereignty,” with the participation of more than 1,500 exhibitors, 500 cooperatives, 200 breeders, and 45 foreign delegations representing 70 countries, with expected attendance exceeding 1.1 million visitors.
