Morocco Grants Housing Aid to Over 55,000 Beneficiaries

Rabat: The Moroccan government has announced a significant development in its housing support program, revealing that 55,512 beneficiaries have received aid, with nearly half of them being women. The announcement was made by government spokesperson Baitas during a press briefing that followed the weekly cabinet meeting. The initiative, which aims to provide direct financial assistance to first-time homebuyers, is part of a broader strategy to address housing needs across the country.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the majority of the beneficiaries, 76.3%, are residents within Morocco, while 23.7% are Moroccan nationals residing abroad. This housing support program is part of a strategic initiative launched for the 2024-2028 period. It has garnered significant interest, with a total of 177,344 applications submitted across the nation’s 12 regions. Notably, 37% of these applicants are under the age of 35, with the average age of applicants being 41.

Fez emerges as the city with the highest number of beneficiaries, followed by Berrechid, Meknes, Kenitra, Casablanca, El Jadida, Benslimane, Settat, Oujda, and Berkane. The distribution of applications reveals that 62% pertain to homes priced between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams. In contrast, 38% of applications are for homes costing less than 300,000 dirhams.

The program offers substantial financial aid to first-time homebuyers, with eligible individuals receiving 100,000 dirhams for homes priced under 300,000 dirhams and 70,000 dirhams for homes within the 300,000 to 700,000 dirham range, inclusive of taxes. This approach aims to make home ownership more accessible to a broader section of the population, supporting Morocco’s ongoing efforts to enhance living conditions for its citizens.
