Rabat: Morocco has been designated as a priority country in the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs’ (SECO) new economic cooperation strategy, according to a statement by Swiss official Germann during an event hosted by the Moroccan Embassy in Switzerland. The event was organized to commemorate the 26th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s enthronement. This strategic designation aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in crucial sectors, including infrastructure, tourism, and trade.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Germann highlighted Morocco’s strategic position as a gateway to Africa, making it an attractive destination for Swiss businesses. He further noted that economic relations between Morocco and Switzerland remain stable and promising, with significant potential for growth. This is particularly evident in the context of Morocco’s major development projects, such as those related to the 2030 World Cup.
Adding to this sentiment, Monika Schmutz Kirg¶z, Deputy State Secretary at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, acknowledged the strong bilateral relations between the two nations. She emphasized that these relations span various areas, including the economy, politics, research, and development, underscoring the multifaceted nature of the partnership.
