Rabat: The First President of the Court of Accounts, Zineb El Adaoui, received on Thursday a high-level delegation of the Presidents of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and their respective delegations, from Benin, Burkina Faso, C´te d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Senegal and Togo, as part of exchanging experiences on strengthening supreme audit mechanisms in Africa.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, during the meeting, El Adaoui expressed her great pride in the fruitful and lasting cooperation with counterpart African SAIs, and underlined the firm commitment of Morocco to further this cooperation, in accordance with the guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. She emphasized the importance of actively contributing to the establishment of a comprehensive and integrated framework aimed at developing professional capabilities, evolving working methodologies, and leveraging modern technologies and artificial intelligence to enhance control and risk management efficiency.
She also highlighted the necessity for deeper integration of African SAIs into the global momentum of major projects and initiatives in the field of supreme auditing, which would benefit African countries and their populations.
For his part, President of the WAEMU Court of Audit Segnon Yves Marie Adissin lauded the Moroccan Court of Accounts for its dedication to bolstering joint cooperation with its continental counterparts. He noted that the visit by WAEMU SAIs representatives aligns with efforts to modernize the audit mechanisms of the Union’s member SAIs. This modernization requires openness to best practices and learning from successful experiences, such as those implemented by the Moroccan Court of Accounts.
On this occasion, the Court of Accounts organized several meetings to enable the WAEMU SAIs delegation to learn about the Moroccan audit model. The meetings focused on showcasing the best practices and innovative tools adopted by the Court in auditing, digitization, and data analysis.
This meeting forms part of efforts to strengthen cooperation with peer African institutions, recognizing the role of the Court of Accounts as Secretary General of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI). This role contributes to expanding the scope of South-South cooperation, aiming to deepen its positive impact by promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability across the African continent, the press release concludes.
