Morocco, Spain’s Agriculture Ministers Discuss Enhanced Cooperation


Rabat: The agriculture ministers of Morocco and Spain engaged in discussions to enhance bilateral cooperation, emphasizing their countries’ geographic proximity, shared Mediterranean heritage, and a common perspective on climate change, water management, and agricultural resilience. They highlighted the complementary nature of their agri-food trade and the necessity to reinforce dialogue to build mutual trust and elevate agricultural cooperation to new heights.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the discussions centered on expanding technical and scientific cooperation. Key areas of focus included sanitary and phytosanitary standards, sustainable management and modernization of irrigation systems, and the development of non-conventional water resources. The Spanish minister noted the in-depth exchange conducted during the meeting, which updated the main areas of cooperation between the two nations and reviewed the state of bilateral relations in the agri-food sector.

reciation for the “exemplary collaboration between Morocco and Spain” on numerous shared-interest issues, especially those linked to their geographic situation, climate change impacts, and water challenges. Additionally, cooperation in animal and plant health was discussed, deemed essential for both countries. The minister emphasized the significance of the forthcoming Morocco-Spain High-Level meeting, during which multiple memorandums of understanding concerning agriculture, agri-food, and fisheries will be signed to strengthen the partnership’s institutional and operational framework.
