Morocco’s Aerospace Sector Advances with Strategic Manufacturing Shift

Marrakech:Morocco’s aerospace sector has progressed significantly by transitioning from assembly to manufacturing and advanced engineering, as stated by Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration. Loudyi made these remarks during the opening session of the 8th Marrakech Airshow, which is held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Loudyi emphasized that the aerospace sector is set to become a pivotal driver of Morocco’s industrial capabilities. The nation’s efforts in this sector are not only strengthening its position in global production chains but also making it more attractive to major international corporations like Boeing, Airbus, and Pratt & Whitney.

Loudyi also mentioned Morocco’s advancements in the defense industry, facilitated by a newly established legal framework. This framework has led to the creation of industrial zones with modern logistics and services, tailored to the needs of the defense sector. Such strategic investments have been supported by various incentives for investors, resulting in numerous industrial projects with international partners, focusing on military equipment production and services for domestic and export needs.

Furthermore, Loudyi noted that Morocco is dedicated to evolving its defense capabilities by transitioning from importing to building national defense capabilities and sovereignty. This commitment is aimed at strengthening ties with partners and enhancing Morocco’s position in the defense sector.

The 2026 Marrakech Airshow, running until October 10, showcases Morocco’s growing aerospace industry, highlighting its engineering, maintenance, avionics, digitization, and research and development activities. This growth contributes to the strengthening of Morocco’s industrial ecosystem and its role within the aviation industry’s strategic value chains.
