Royal Air Maroc to Introduce Starlink Wi-Fi on Flights

Rabat:Morocco’s flag carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), will equip 41 of its aircraft with the Starlink high-speed connectivity solution. This service will be available free of charge to all members of the Safar Flyer program, marking a significant advancement in passenger experience. RAM will become the first airline on the African continent to provide an ultra-fast, uninterrupted internet connection through the world’s most advanced satellite constellation.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the rollout of this service is set to begin in early 2027. It will gradually expand across the entire fleet to ensure optimal operational continuity.

Once installed, RAM passengers will benefit from ultra-high-speed internet access, enabling them to stream content, communicate, work in real-time, and stay connected throughout their flight. This development is part of a broader multi-year plan that includes fleet renewal, cabin redesign, and complete modernization of the customer experience, both on the ground and in the air, explained Hamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc.

Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Commercial Operations for Starlink at SpaceX, highlighted that RAM’s decision to incorporate Starlink into its fleet marks a significant milestone for aviation in Africa.

In-flight connectivity is a key component of Royal Air Maroc’s customer experience strategy. By introducing this new service, the national flag carrier addresses the growing demand for uninterrupted connectivity among its diverse customer base, which includes business travelers, members of the diaspora, students, and tourists.
