Marrakech: Morocco’s approach to security has emerged as a key driver for development, thanks to the strategic foresight of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, according to the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-INTERPOL). Koman, speaking at the 93rd General Assembly of INTERPOL in Marrakech, highlighted the integral role of Morocco’s security institutions in maintaining stability and fostering the Kingdom’s rapid development.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Koman underscored the commitment of Morocco’s security institutions to evolve continuously, aligning with King Mohammed VI’s vision for national progress and prosperity. He emphasized the prioritization of citizen service and the promotion of human rights as core objectives, with initiatives like the National Security Open Days enhancing cooperation between citizens and law enforcement, serving as a model for other nations.
Koman also highlighted the recognition of Moroccan security leaders, notably the accolades received by Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance. Hammouchi was recently awarded the Prince Naif Medal for Arab Security for First Class and the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Civil Guard. Additionally, Morocco’s election as INTERPOL Vice President for Africa underscores the esteem in which its security framework is held.
The ongoing INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech, marked by significant international participation, offers a platform for other countries, especially within the Arab world, to gain insights from Morocco’s innovative security practices. Koman pointed out Morocco’s pivotal role in Arab security collaboration, hosting essential organizations such as the Arab Organization for Social Defense Against Crime and the Arab Office for Civil Protection and the Environment.
Koman concluded that hosting these organizations aligns with King Mohammed VI’s vision, which integrates security, sustainable development, and environmental stewardship as pillars of Morocco’s national strategy.
