Rabat: Morocco’s top prosecutor met with the Republic of Austria’s Procurator General to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation specifically aimed at combating organized and transnational crime and cybercrime. The meeting emphasized the need for joint efforts to tackle these challenges effectively.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the discussions included exchanging experiences related to the functioning of public prosecutor’s offices in both countries. There was a focus on expertise exchange and enhancing the professional skills of public prosecutors within their respective jurisdictions. The meeting also reviewed developments within Morocco’s national judicial system, highlighting Morocco’s experience in judicial independence and the role of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The meeting provided a comprehensive overview of Morocco’s judicial organization, including initiatives by the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor’s Office aimed at digitizing services. In a statement, Balaoui remarked that the meeting was instrumental in exploring ways to strengthen cooperation between the Moroccan Public Prosecutor’s Office and its Austrian counterpart, underscoring Morocco’s advancements in the judicial field.
Both parties agreed to organize exchange visits for Moroccan and Austrian judges. These visits aim to facilitate the sharing of experiences and best practices in combating crime. The Procurator General of the Republic of Austria, Margit Wachberger, along with a high-level delegation, is on a working visit to Morocco from April 26-28, part of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperative relations between the two countries’ public prosecutor’s offices.
