He also noted the high-level performance of Omar El Hilali from Espanyol. El Ouahdi highlighted that national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi has several options on the left flank as well, including Salah-Eddine of PSV and El Karouani of Utrecht.
The 23-year-old recently made his debut for the senior national team in a friendly match against Paraguay in March. El Ouahdi is hopeful that he left a positive impression during the game. His previous experience with youth national te
ams, including winning the U23 Africa Cup of Nations under coach Issame Charaï, has been crucial in shaping his international career and his commitment to the Moroccan jersey.
As the national team approaches upcoming fixtures, the defender emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement and proving his form. Despite an impressive season with KRC Genk, where he scored 11 goals and provided 3 assists in 37 matches, El Ouahdi remains focused on enhancing his skills.
El Ouahdi was also recognized as the Belgian Lion 2025, an award that honors the best player of Maghreb origin in Belgium’s top division.
