Royal Gendarmerie Officers Use Service Weapons in Self-Defense During Attack in Leqliaa

Leqliaa: Royal Gendarmerie officers in Leqliaa were compelled to use their service weapons in self-defense after their premises were attacked by groups attempting to seize weapons. During the incident, two individuals died from gunshot wounds, and others were injured while participating in the attack.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the attackers were organized into groups and engaged in acts of violence and vandalism, including throwing stones at the Royal Gendarmerie’s territorial brigade. Initially, security forces responded with tear gas canisters to repel the attack. However, the situation escalated when the assailants, reinforced by additional troublemakers and armed with bladed weapons, successfully stormed the building.

The attackers managed to seize a vehicle and four motorcycles belonging to the Royal Gendarmerie, setting fire to the vehicle and parts of the brigade’s building. They also attempted to steal ammunition, equipment, and service weapons. In response to the severe threat, the Royal Gendarmerie officers resorted to using their service weapons in legitimate self-defense to thwart the assailants.
