Rabat – A Royal Navy fighting unit intercepted, on Sunday, 209 km southwest of Dakhla, a pirogue carrying 59 sub-Saharan irregular migrants, according to a statement by the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
The pirogue, which was bound for the Canary Islands, left the Senegalese coast on January 30.
The rescued people received the necessary care on board before being taken to the Port of Dakhla and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, concluded the same source.
