Rabat: Southern provinces “now offer powerful testimony to the success of Morocco’s strategy for inclusive and sustainable development,” De Queiroz said in an interview with MAP on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Glorious Green March.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this expert in international relations highlighted that the southern provinces have become a major lever of Morocco’s regional development model and a pillar of its Atlantic projection. “The profound economic and social changes ongoing in the southern provinces reflect the success of a vision based on territorial equity and sustainability,” he stated. Cities such as Laayoune and Dakhla have emerged as regional growth hubs, driven by significant investments in sectors like infrastructure, education, health, and renewable energy.
These advances have improved the quality of life for local populations and strengthened the image of an emerging, modern Morocco focused on the future. De Queiroz emphasized that integrated territoria
l development is not only an internal priority but also a pillar of Moroccan foreign policy and its African projection.
In his opinion, the sustained and multidimensional development of the southern provinces will enable these territories to play a key role in bridging Africa and Latin America. He cited the structuring project of the port of Dakhla Atlantique among these initiatives, with the ambition of connecting the region to African and transatlantic value chains. Additionally, he mentioned the Royal Atlantic Initiative spearheaded by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which displays Morocco’s solidarity with its African roots.
