Rabat: “Fifty years after this founding episode, the Green March illustrates the strong cohesion between the Throne and the people, and remains a timeless symbol of unity, loyalty, and patriotism,” Mankeur emphasized in a statement to MAP, mentioning that this year’s celebration of this event coincides with the adoption by the UN Security Council of a resolution on the Sahara issue, confirming the relevance of Morocco’s autonomy plan.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the former Senegalese foreign minister highlighted the diplomatic efforts led by HM King Mohammed VI to achieve a political, peaceful, and lasting solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara, welcoming the adoption of Resolution 2797 endorsing the autonomy plan as the only basis for settling this dispute.
The autonomy plan, proposed by the Kingdom in 2007, is now recognized as “a serious, credible and realistic basis” for reaching a final resolution, in respecting Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, he stressed.
In the same context, Ndiaye praised the clear and proactive Royal Vision guiding Moroccan diplomacy, based on “values of peace, realism, openness, pan-African solidarity, and South-South cooperation.”
In this regard, he affirmed that Moroccan diplomacy, guided by the foresighted vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, continues to achieve notable successes, which have been welcomed on the international stage.
