Spain’s Interior Minister Highlights ‘Exemplary’ Cooperation with Morocco on Security and Migration

Madrid: Spain’s Minister of the Interior Fernando Grande-Marlaska underscored, on Monday in Madrid, the “exemplary” bilateral cooperation between his country and Morocco, particularly in security and migration management.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Grande-Marlaska emphasized Morocco’s crucial role in combating human trafficking networks, describing the nation as a reliable partner for both Spain and the European Union. His comments followed a meeting with his Moroccan counterpart, Abdelouafi Laftit, attended by the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich.

During discussions on preparations for the 2030 World Cup, which will be jointly organized by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, the Spanish official highlighted the significance of close cooperation to ensure the event’s security. He noted that sports cooperation enhances the already strong security ties between the two countries.

Grande-Marlaska also commended both nations’ commitment to further strengthening their cooperation in addressing major transnational threats such as terrorism, violent extremism, and organized crime, all within a framework of mutual trust.
