Manama, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, the Council of Representatives Speaker, said Bahrain’s success in hosting the “Manama Dialogue” for the nineteenth year, reflects His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s approach in supporting international efforts to achieve peace, security, stability, prosperity, and combat extremism, violence, and terrorism.
He commended His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for his efforts in strengthening cooperation with countries, consolidating dialogue and partnership principles, and enhancing international security and stability.
Al Musallam highlighted the importance of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s speech at the opening of the “Manama Dialogue 2023”, and added that represented a voice of reason to address challenges, differences, and conflicts from a civilised, humanitarian, and future perspective.
The Speaker said that the international community must prioritise protecting innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip, ending war and the escalation of violence, and securing urgent humanitarian corridors, as called for in the remarks of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He emphasised the crucial importance of strategic partnerships and alliances between Gulf countries to address conflicts and challenges in the region, emphasising the need for effective actions to ensure a safe and prosperous
region.
Regional parliamentary diplomacy aims to resolve conflicts by adhering to international resolutions, strengthening humanitarian law, respecting state sovereignty, promoting tolerance, coexistence, peace, and renewing strategic cooperation formulas, while also focusing on new energy security policies, the Speaker said.
The Manama Dialogue, organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), is a platform for decision-makers, policymakers, and strategists to discuss pressing political, defense, and external security issues, he added.
Al Musallam noted that the Manama Dialogue serves as a platform for international rapprochement and integration, promoting bilateral and multilateral meetings to address risks and enhance strategic capabilities.
