Summit Enshrines State Sovereignty And UN Security Council Role


Addis ababa: Concluding the 2nd Africa-CARICOM Summit, the Addis Ababa Declaration on the Transcontinental Partnership on Reparatory Justice for Africans and People of African Descent reaffirmed principles of respect for state sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, and good-neighborliness as principles of the United Nations Charter.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the joint communiqu© issued at the Summit reiterated the UN Security Council’s primary responsibility in maintaining international peace and security in light of the evolving international security situation, which poses multiple threats to peace, security, and stability on the African continent and in the CARICOM region. Morocco is participating in the Summit with a delegation led by the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa, Mohammed Arrouchi.



The Addis Ababa Declaration on the Transcontinental Partnership on Reparatory Justice for Africans and People of African Descent reaffirmed respect for state sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, and good-neighborliness as principles of the United Nations Charter.



The joint communiqu© issued at the Summit emphasized the role of the UN Security Council in maintaining international peace and security and noted concerns over the international security situation and its impact on peace, security, and stability on the African continent and in the CARICOM region.



Morocco’s delegation to the Summit is led by Mohammed Arrouchi, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Morocco to the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa.
