Throne Day Speech Highlights Morocco’s Commitment to Maghreb Union: Former Senegalese FM

Rabat: The Speech of His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the glorious Throne Day underscores Morocco’s steadfast commitment, under the Sovereign’s leadership, to revitalizing and strengthening the Maghreb Union. This commitment reflects Morocco’s deep attachment to the Union, according to former Senegalese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mankeur Ndiaye. In a statement to MAP, Ndiaye emphasized the depth of Morocco’s attachment and the openness that characterizes the King’s policy, particularly His Majesty’s gesture of extending a hand to the Algerian people.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Royal Speech also highlighted the increasing international support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara. This support has been bolstered by the backing expressed by the United Kingdom and Portugal for Morocco’s autonomy initiative, Ndiaye noted.

Ndiaye further mentioned that since King Mohammed VI’s accession to the Throne 26 years ago, the Sovereign has transformed Morocco into a modern emerging country. This transformation respects its millennial traditions and is firmly rooted in its African heritage.

Since rejoining its African family in January 2017, Morocco has significantly contributed to enhancing African cooperation and integration through a policy of solidarity that is highly appreciated, Ndiaye concluded.
