AfDB Allocates £200 Million to Enhance Employability in Morocco

Rabat: The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group has approved £200 million in financing for the implementation of the ‘Cap Comp©tences 2030’ program, aimed at improving employment opportunities for young people and women. This initiative seeks to enhance vocational training through digitalisation, large-scale learning systems, and improved labour market integration mechanisms.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the results-based financing is structured around three main pillars: skills development and strategic partnerships; inclusive training aligned with business needs; and digital transformation, supported by enhanced institutional and operational capacity. The program is set to strengthen existing mechanisms, increasing both their efficiency and scope.

“Cap Comp©tences 2030” is part of the Bank’s ongoing commitment to human development, employment, and social inclusion in Morocco. It is also a continuation of a broader portfolio of operations aimed at reforming the labour market and vocational training system.

Since its inception, the African Development Bank Group has mobilised over £15 billion in Morocco, targeting education, health, employment, infrastructure, energy, and governance.
