Arab World Institute President Commends Morocco’s Cultural Progress Under King Mohammed VI


Casablanca: The President of the Arab World Institute (IMA), Anne-Claire Legendre, on Monday in Casablanca hailed the cultural momentum and the progress achieved by Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, at a press briefing held at the French Institute of Casablanca, Legendre expressed her admiration for the creative and inventive cultural scene in Morocco. She highlighted the dynamic nature of the artists and the young generation of creators in the Kingdom.

The IMA Head emphasized the existence of a “vibrant artistic scene” thriving in the areas of visual arts, music, and cultural industries. Legendre attributed this vitality to the cultural ambitions spearheaded by HM King Mohammed VI, which have led to the establishment of numerous cultural infrastructures. These efforts have contributed to the emergence of a new generation of talents that the Arab World Institute aims to support and promote, particularly within European audiences.

ned ongoing discussions with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, aiming to enhance cooperation in various sectors related to cultural and creative industries. This collaboration is expected to focus on the professional development of young Moroccan creators through initiatives such as residency, publication, and exhibition programs. It will also cover areas including gaming, design, fashion, contemporary art, and literature.

Additionally, the IMA President underscored the significance of Morocco’s tangible and intangible heritage. She noted discussions with several national institutions, including the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Archives of Morocco, and the National Institute of Archaeology and Heritage Sciences (INSAP), to develop joint projects focused on promotion, research, and exhibition.

Legendre also reminded that Morocco has been “an exceptional partner” of the Arab World Institute since its inception, emphasizing that the Kingdom is one of the founding countries of
this esteemed institution.
