Rabat: The Economic Promotion Week in Morocco for Eastern Caribbean Countries was launched on Monday, June 22, in Rabat, with the aim of promoting the economic potential of Caribbean countries in the Kingdom of Morocco across various sectors to foster the development of win-win business partnerships between Moroccan and Caribbean operators.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, several events and meetings are scheduled during this Economic Promotion Week in Morocco for the Eastern Caribbean countries (Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines), which will feature meetings in Rabat, Casablanca, and Dakhla. The launch of this economic week in Morocco was held during a meeting chaired by AMCI Director General and Ambassador Mohamed Methqal, with a high-level delegation from the Eastern Caribbean countries.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss strengthening the economic partnership between Morocco and Eastern Caribbean countries, in line with the partnership advocated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him. Led by Ricardo James, Head of the Trade Policy Development within the Division of Economic Affairs and Regional Integration of the OECS Commission, the delegation also includes Rhoda Joseph, Executive Director of Invest Dominica Authority; Musat Jasat, Board Member of the Grenada Investment Development Corporation; Brian Louisy, Executive Director of the Saint Lucia Chamber of Commerce; Christo Chovado Primus, Head of the Private Sector Development Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; and Tamica Jahmilla Lawrence, Director of the Nevis Investment Promotion Agency in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The presence of this high-level delegation in Morocco reflects the determination of Caribbean countries to strengthen their economic relations with the Kingdom of Morocco, contribute to attracting greater investment, and expand trade exchanges. The week-long economic promotion program for Caribbean countries in Morocco includes meetings with public institutions and private-sector economic operators, the CGEM and sectoral federations, the Professional Group of Banks of Morocco (GPBM), Casablanca Finance City and its corporate ecosystem, as well as the Regional Investment Centre (CRI) of Dakhla.
These meetings will provide an opportunity to showcase the economic potential of the Eastern Caribbean countries and highlight key investment sectors, particularly infrastructure, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, and the blue economy. This initiative forms part of the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates to support Morocco’s economic diplomacy worldwide through the AMCI and its partners, including the CGEM, the GPBM, Casablanca Finance City (CFC), the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), among others.
