Las palmas: The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Souss-Massa and its counterpart from Gran Canaria convened in a business meeting on Tuesday in Las Palmas. This gathering was part of a visit by a Moroccan delegation to the Canary Islands, organized by the archipelago’s government.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the meeting follows an institutional mission held last January in Agadir, where both entities signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement aims to solidify a new-generation partnership focused on high value-added strategic areas such as the blue economy, maritime excellence, tourism, energy transition, climate resilience, productive investment, and territorial and human cooperation.
Luis Padr³n, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, emphasized the progress in relations with the Souss-Massa Chamber of Commerce. He noted that common strategic objectives have been identified to strengthen entrepreneurial cooperation between the two regions. “Today, we have defined the implementation of a work program structured around several major areas, notably connectivity, trade, and tourism,” he conveyed to MAP.
Sad Dor, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Souss-Massa, expressed that the meeting reaffirmed the importance of the historical ties between the two regions. It also provided an opportunity to explore key sectors with complementarities, aiming to position the area as a strategic hub oriented toward African markets.
In this context, both officials highlighted the necessity of establishing a direct maritime link between Agadir and the Canary Islands. This link is seen as a crucial lever to facilitate trade flows and enhance joint economic development.
